My favorite homeopathy book!Apr 04, 2006
By M. Bolling
"LV Chef Mel"
With three kids I need a book I can understand and find the information I am looking for as quick as possible. This book has a great index and it makes looking up remedies we need very easy. I don't have to read descriptions of 10 different ones to find what is needed.
Her writing style is easy to read and she really gives a lot of information here that I haven't seen elsewhere. Part One tells the history of homeopathy, guidelines for deciding what you should be able to treat yourself and teaches how to take a case history and how to prescribe. This includes dosages, information on how often to dose, how to assess the progress and effectiveness of the remedy and explains how there are antidotes to homeopathy and tells about them. Part Two goes through a series of remedies and information on each. She tells where each comes from and lists specific information you need to decide if it is right for you. First though, she talks about the different forms each remedy can come in be it liquid, ointment or the little tablets we see in the health food stores. In Part Three she really goes over when we can self treat and when we should see a licensed homeopath. There is a case-taking questionaire and symptom checklist. There are even sample cases where you can put to test and see what you learned.
I really enjoyed this book and have already purchased a second copy to loan out...

if you only purchase one homeopathy manual... choose this.Aug 23, 2006
By Violet as an avid student and patient of homeopathy [18 years and counting] this is still my favorite lay manual of homeopathy. ms. castro provides clear physical, mental and emotional descriptions corresponding with each remedy in a tone and language which is both in-depth and intellegent. you will benefit from her insight into the origin of each remedy as well as the remedy's symptoms/"picture." my well-loved copy is literally falling apart.

Excellent!Jun 19, 2000
By Mrs S Mason This is my 2nd Miranda Castro book (1st being Homeopathy for Mother and Child) she continues her common sense, practical approach in this book. Homeopathy has worked amazingly well in our family for everything so far - and each time I have referred to Ms. Castro's books; particularly good for my little boy from new-born to now 3½. For those looking for safe, non-drug alternatives this will be welcome help and support.

Excellent - I use this book as the textbook for my online/email Introduction to Homeopathy coursesOct 30, 2007

"RN, MA, Hahnemannian Homeopath"
I am a classical Hahnemannian Homeopath and teach introductory classes in homeopathy, online by email. I use Miranda's fine book for my classes. It is organized well and helps the beginner to learn homeopathy in an efficient, easy-to-understand way. Her book also includes a repertory which is what is necessary to determine which remedy to use (a repertory is like an index of symptoms). Her repertory is very good for minor acutes and first aid, which is all a beginner should be doing anyway. I even take her book along with me when I'm traveling & use her repertory for quick reference to determine remedies for minor acutes and first aid. Thanks Miranda. Sheri Nakken Hahnemannian Homeopath

I am new to homeopathy and I have found this book to be so simple and easy to understand. It has helped me to understand why the Hyland's Teething Tablets aren't working for my son.He needs a more defined and "classical" approach.
